Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering academic excellence, extracurricular
achievements, and strong community connections. We recognize that there is
always room for improvement. As we embark on this journey together, our focus is on
creating an inclusive, engaging, and innovative learning environment that supports every
student’s needs.
We aim to improve in the following key areas:
Academic Achievement: Our goal is to ensure every student has access to a high-quality
education. We work to increase graduation rates, provide additional resources for college and career readiness, and enhance our curriculum to prepare students for the future. Students have many opportunities to improve their academic accomplishments through Saturday school and after-school enrichment.
School Climate and Culture: A positive school environment is essential for learning. We
focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful space for all students and staff. This
includes addressing personal conflicts, promoting mental health, and encouraging
positive behavior. Our PBIS initiative is growing as we include donations from local
businesses and look at the whole student when we reward improvements in behavior.
Parent and Community Involvement: We believe that strong partnerships with parents
and the community are crucial for our success. We invite you to be active participants in
our school improvement efforts, attend meetings, volunteer and be a voice for the school
in the community.
Extracurricular Opportunities: Extracurricular activities play a significant role in students’
development. We plan to expand our programs to include more sports, arts, and other
activities that encourage teamwork, leadership, and creativity. Students have participated in drama productions and also our award-winning FFA classes put on a petting zoo for the community as well as a plant sale in the spring.
Technology and Innovation: In today’s digital age, technology is a vital tool for learning.
We invest in technology to support teaching and learning, providing students with the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world. We encourage our teachers to
participate in the district Student-Centered Learning Cohorts. These sessions provide
collaboration across the district and constructive, reflective feedback. Teachers take this
knowledge and create a hybrid classroom environment where students have choice and
voice in their learning and mastery of standards-based concepts.
Together, we make York Comprehensive High School a place where every student thrives. We are excited about the possibilities ahead and look forward to working to achieve our shared goals. Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to our
school.
