Richland One Middle College (ROMC) is an award-winning charter high school for grades 11 and 12 students located on the Beltline Campus of Midlands Technical College. ROMC is helping all students develop the World Class Knowledge and Skills and Life and Career Characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate by affording students the opportunity to obtain college credits while attending high school and providing real-world curriculum experiences. ROMC strives to be an outstanding educational institution. We have achieved Red Carpet School status by maintaining a family-friendly environment and providing excellent customer service to all stakeholders. Our collaborative partnerships with Richland County School District One and Midlands Technical College allow us to facilitate a successful transition for students from high school to college, the workforce, and the armed forces.
Our overarching goal is to increase academic achievement by connecting classroom activities to real-world experiences. At ROMC, we promote career awareness, exploration, and preparation to assist students in developing sound academic, technical, and interpersonal skills that will ensure success in their post-secondary endeavors. We also aid our students in developing character and leadership qualities through community service learning. The continued support from the business community, collaborating partners, and dedicated faculty and staff allows the ROMC vision to come to fruition each year.
ROMC continues to engage all students through the consistent use of technology and curriculum guided by the South Carolina College and Career-Ready Standards. Students are required to complete Senior Capstone and Junior Keystone Projects, where they select a research topic based on their career interests, create a research report on the subject, generate a product based on their learning, and present it to an audience of their peers, teachers, and members of the community.
At ROMC, we guarantee students' success by understanding that each student is unique and deserves a customized system of support to reach their goals. We accomplish this by using a comprehensive college and career readiness platform and offering students varied opportunities to participate in career field studies, engage with community leaders, and participate in community service-related activities. ROMC equips students with the tools to identify, prepare for, and obtain college and/or career success.
