Conway High, a school rich in pride and traditions, has a diverse student population and serves as a pillar of the Conway community. Conway High School offers a wide array of course options on the college preparatory, world language, honors, and advanced placement levels to ensure all students are college and career-ready. We do this while providing students with a comprehensive high school experience that includes fine arts and athletics opportunities. Conway High School also offers students a rigorous academic program where students can use 21st-century skills to solve hands-on, real-world problems. Our school is dedicated to helping all students develop world-class skills identified in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by integrating technology in all academic areas, allowing students to apply the skills needed to be successful in the global workforce.
Each year, the faculty and staff work hard to continue the legacy of success by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. The faculty and staff continue to focus on beneficial program initiatives, use data to drive instruction, and provide consistent curriculum implementation to increase student achievement. This is accomplished by promoting equitable opportunities for all students and creating an academically rigorous learning environment that promotes college and career readiness through a standards-driven curriculum, student-centered interaction, impressive extracurricular programs, and high-quality education. Students are challenged to take full advantage of all Conway High School offers to make the high school experience successful, enjoyable, and meaningful. Conway High School has shown academic growth, as shown in an increase in quality points in all EOCs during the 22-23 school year. Also, five out of seven of our AP scores are above the global average. They are Calculus AB, Calculus BC, English Literature, Environmental Science, Human Geography, and US History.
Conway High School offers many extracurricular opportunities in athletics and the arts that help students grow into well-rounded adults with gifts and talents in diverse disciplines. During the 23-24 school year, our athletic teams had great seasons. Conway baseball, softball, football, girls tennis, girls volleyball, boys volleyball, girls golf, boys golf, boys wrestling, girls wrestling, track, cheer, and girls soccer all made the playoffs. Track and wrestling competed at lower state. The girls and boys teams golf team finished in the Top 10 in the state. Girls volleyball went undefeated in the region, set a school record for wins, and made it to the 3rd round of playoffs. Boys volleyball had 9 wins. Girls tennis, girls volleyball, and boys golf were region championships. We had twelve student-athletes sign to play at the collegiate level. We had three students make all-state. In the fine arts, our students participated in theatre, band, and visual art performances and competitions throughout the school year that culminated in one theatrical production, Clue.
Conway High School is proud of the academic gains of our students while experiencing this past school year in a pandemic. Conway is also proud of the continual growth of our CTE program. This program offers opportunities for students in the areas of Biomedical Science, Health Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Pharmacology, Sports Medicine, Medical Billing and Coding, Game and Interactive Media, Horticulture, Web and Digital Communications, Business Information Management, Hospitality and Tourism, General Management, and Veterinary Science. Students enrolled in our Project Lead the Way Engineering, Computer Science, and Biomedical Science programs earn honors credit and can potentially earn dual enrollment credit. Students who enroll in Pharmacology Technology, Veterinary Science, Horticulture, Medical Billing and Coding, Health Science, and Biomedical have an opportunity to earn a national certification that can launch them into a career immediately after graduating from high school. Also, Conway celebrated a 100% pass rate on EOC exams for Principles of Biomedical Science, Computer Science Principles, and Hair Braiding. Our school received numerous county and state recognitions that reflect the dedication of both our students and our faculty, such as:
- Twenty-two students were selected for Horry County Schools All-County Honors Chorus.
- Four students were selected for South Carolina All-State Honors Chorus.
- Six students were selected for all-county band.
- Three students were selected for all-region band honor groups.
- Thirteen students were selected for all-county theatre.
- Two students received "Outstanding Actor" awards for theatre.
- One student received "Outstanding Contribution" to ensemble.
- The Conway FFA Chapter placed first at the Agriculture Fair Individual, Division 2 Plan Systems.
- The Conway FFA Chapter placed first at the Agriculture Fair Individual, Division 3 Food Products.
- The Conway FFA Chapter Agronomy Team placed first at CDE.
- The Conway FFA Chapter Turfgrass Management Team placed first at CDE.
