Bethany Elementary is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by guiding each prekindergarten through fifth grade student to recognizing and developing into their maximum, unique potentials. As a student centered, high achieving school, we serve approximately four hundred students from various backgrounds and needs. Our professional commitment to the overall achievement of all our students is evident through our daily instructional program, which emphasizes the teaching of the whole child.
Teachers participate in yearlong professional development opportunities that prepare them in providing the latest instructional strategies where Bethany students can be observed learning through discovery, research, and collaboration. Our learning extends beyond the classroom to field trips where our students learn about their city, state, and culture.
Our teachers strive to effectively incorporate technology in all of our classes; core, intervention, enrichment and the arts. It is through these collaborative and creative measures that our students thrive. Additionally, students are guided in life and career characteristics through opportunities provided by our guidance counselor. Guidance lessons are provided throughout the year focusing on character, integrity, self-direction, and other interpersonal skills. These opportunities are designed to assist students in developing personal interests, responsibility and the social-emotional skills necessary throughout their school career and post-graduation.
All Clover schools perform above the State in the Achievement metric as measured by the SC READY ELA and mathematics assessments and on SCPASS as measured by the science assessments. We are very proud of the fact that the elementary schools score between the 75th - 96th percentile of all elementary schools in South Carolina. While the benefit of having outstanding high-achieving students is evident, it also presents us with challenges in the Academic Progress (Growth) metric. Many of our students start very high in 3rd grade; therefore, maintaining growth (upward movement in test scores) becomes more challenging in subsequent grades. As always, every school has room to improve. Our teachers will continue to focus on providing the highest quality instruction every day in the classroom. We will also renew our efforts to ensure that each child reaches his or her highest potential by maintaining or improving performance each year on grade level assessments.
