Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, and communication are embedded into daily instruction. At Cherryvale Elementary, we believe that every child has the potential to thrive when equipped with the tools, mindset, and support they need to reach the high expectations of our school, district and state.
Our dedicated staff implements standards-based instruction that integrates real-world problem-solving, student discourse, and inquiry-based learning across all content areas. A key instructional focus at Cherryvale is the use of targeted small group instruction and dedicated 30-minute intervention blocks in both ELA and math every day to address the individual needs of students. These daily intervention times allow teachers to provide focused remediation, enrichment, and skill-building opportunities aligned to student performance data.
To support this work, Cherryvale employs a full-time MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) specialist, who collaborates with teachers and instructional teams to analyze data, guide intervention planning, and ensure students receive the right support at the right time. This layered system allows us to proactively address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs in a coordinated and responsive manner.
Social-emotional learning is also central to our approach. Through regularly schedule classroom lessons, schoolwide expectations, and intentional relationship-building, students learn self-awareness, empathy, and responsible decision-making—skills that are essential for success both inside and outside the classroom.
Additionally, improving student attendance is a schoolwide priority. We actively monitor attendance data, engage families in collaborative problem-solving, and implement positive incentives to promote regular school attendance. We recognize that consistent attendance is vital to student success, and we are committed to building a culture where every day matters.
Cherryvale Elementary School is committed to preparing students not only for academic achievement, but also for lifelong learning and productive citizenship. Together with families and our community, we are united in our focus to ensure every student is equipped with the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
