Hopkins Elementary School is helping all students develop the World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by incorporating innovative leadership and educational development systems. Hopkins Elementary's administration, faculty, and staff are dedicated to developing the whole child, including academic, emotional, physical, and social well-being. We hold high expectations, create a culture of respect and responsibility, and ensure all students have the skills to continue to grow and learn.
Throughout the 2023-2024 school year, we maintained a positive and conducive learning environment. Our continued implementation of Visible Learning has provided our school with a shared language, empowering students to take charge of their learning and give and receive feedback that propels their learning.
This past school year, we continued to increase parental, community, and stakeholder involvement through our community partnerships (Jerusalem Baptist Church, Bible Way of Atlas Road, Trinity Presbyterian, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Restart Church, and Body of Christ Ministries), Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Improvement Council (SIC), and other school activities. Some hosted events include Back to School Bash, Dinner with Dads, Curriculum Night, Faith & Fellowship, Mother's Love T.E.A., Grandparent's Drive-Thru, Thirsty Thursday Parent Drop-Ins, and Grandparent Game Days.
During the 2023-2024 school year, we continued implementing the Ron Clark House System. This system has been a dynamic, exciting, and proven way to create a positive climate and culture for our students and staff. Our students have improved their character, relationships, and school spirit. Additionally, each child could connect with their advocate within their house.
Our commitment to technology integration is unwavering. We ensure that all students in grades prekindergarten through 5 have access to laptops, fostering student-centered environments and providing a blended learning experience that prepares them for the future.
At Hopkins Elementary, we believe that collectively, the school, parent organizations, families, and our community play a vital role in educating and nurturing our students to be their best as we continue to prepare the students of Hopkins Elementary to be 21st-century leaders in moving forward collaboratively in our work to promote and develop future South Carolina graduates and prepare our learners to lead with confidence.
