St. Helena Elementary School is dedicated to its vision of cultivating lifelong learners who excel academically, lead in their community, and fulfill their aspirations. With approximately 340 students across 22 classrooms, our educators, parents, and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure our mission of empowering students to lead, achieve, and succeed is ingrained in every aspect of our educational journey.
We are proud to be designated as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. Through our Learning Through Leadership model, students are given valuable opportunities to nurture their personal leadership skills. The Leader in Me process, inspired by Stephen Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," equips students and staff with a framework for making positive, impactful, and responsible choices. Our daily LEAD Time allows teachers and staff to focus on instilling these habits and paradigms while fostering meaningful relationships with our young leaders.
We are committed to addressing not just the academic needs of our students but also to serving the whole child. Students needing additional support to reach grade-level proficiency receive personalized interventions from our dedicated literacy and math specialists. Moreover, our extensive network of community volunteers dedicates countless hours to bridging academic and opportunity gaps, ensuring every student receives the assistance they need to thrive.
By embracing the Leader in Me process, St. Helena Elementary School fosters academic achievement and nurtures essential life and career skills aligned with the Profile of a South Carolina graduate. Our teachers use various assessment tools to set ambitious goals tailored to each student's unique needs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and personalized learning.
We are committed to fostering a culture of collaboration and transparency, continuously seeking ways to enhance communication with families, staff, and the wider community. Through the unwavering support of our dedicated staff, engaged parents, and passionate community volunteers, St. Helena Elementary School remains steadfast in its mission to empower every student to lead, achieve, and succeed.
