Greendale Elementary is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing meaningful learning through standards-based instruction, incorporating effective application of technology, and real-world experiences. Greendale Elementary classrooms reinforce collaboration, creativity and critical thinking through cooperative learning projects. The classroom cultures allows all students to have the opportunity to receive a quality, comprehensive education. Our teachers use researched based strategies and programs, such as Phonics for Readng, IReady, Wilson Reading, HMH Into Reading and Reading Counts, to support all learners. Greendale Elementary continues to implement a school-wide positive behavioral support program through which students learn and receive rewards, to demonstrate the nine attributes of an Aiken County premier student. This program has reduced office referrals and enhanced the overall climate of the school.
Greendale’s faculty and staff recognizes the importance of family and community support to the educational success of a child. We have worked diligently to build relationships with our families by scheduling special events at various times during the day and evening. We have collaborated with our local churches, businesses, fire department, and law enforcement to provide services such as tutoring, mentorship, guest lecturers, and community programs to enhance student learning. The partnership with New Ellenton Police Dept. has resulted in a grant funding the first Student Resource Officer in an Elementary School Greendale students participate in school-wide service learning projects designed to engage our students as they become more civic minded both locally and globally. Those service projects include Jr. Beta Club’s “ Campus Clean Up" which benefits and beautifies our school campus, March of Dimes, which raises money for the to prevent birth defects and premature births.
Building and strengthening stakeholder relationships and increasing academic achievement is imperative to all members of the Greendale Elementary school family as evident by our revised Mission Statement “ The mission of Greendale Elementary is to develop safe, respectful, and responsible citizens who strive to reach their highest academic potential, and become positive contributors to society. “
