Dear Forestbrook Middle School Gator families,
It is our sincere pleasure to share this annual school report with our school community. At Forestbrook Middle School we help all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by instilling high expectations and standards for our students both in and out of the classroom. Our staff takes great pride in providing a safe and secure learning environment, while at the same time offering a wide array of exciting and challenging academic programs. Each year we are filled with pride as we watch our students grow and learn as they mature into young adults. We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of students at Forestbrook Middle School, and we continue to work in partnership with our families and community to ensure our students’ success in all areas. We know that having your support is an essential part of our success, and we thank you for all that you have done to make our year so fulfilling and memorable.
At Forestbrook Middle School, we have a proud tradition of excellence that is associated with being a Palmetto’s Finest and National Blue Ribbon award winning school. Academically our students have continued to perform at high levels in all areas with gains made in all academic areas through a focus on critical thinking and intentional small group instruction. In addition, our students and faculty have continued to win many awards and competitions at the district, regional, and state level. We have provided opportunities for student success beyond the classroom through our clubs and activities designed to enhance the middle school experience and to foster service learning. Our Gators participated in the Polar Plunge, local Hurricane Florence relief efforts, Special Olympics and the American Heart Association, all while showing great compassion and pride in our community. Our students have ample opportunities in the performing arts, STEM based clubs, athletics and academic focused clubs. We strive to offer a club or special interest group which will allow every student to get involved beyond their classroom experience. Our Robotics Club, Gator Tech Club and Rubiks Cube team used creativity, teamwork and innovation to prepare projects to compete at the Horry County Technology Fair. This year we also continued to implement effective personalized learning with Google Chromebooks while developing strong communication, technology and presentation skills.
In all aspects of our school, we embrace the concept of Excellence, Every Day, Everywhere!
Thank you for taking the time to read this annual report and to celebrate the accomplishments of our school and community. As always, we appreciate your
support of Forestbrook Middle School.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Melissa Rutenberg, Principal
Mrs. Christine Rockey, School Improvement Council Chairperson
