Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science is helping all students develop world-class skills, life, and career characteristics as detailed in the Profile of the SC Graduate. By providing a safe and nurturing learning community, we create a school where each student can grow academically and flourish in their social and emotional growth.
We offer a robust academic curriculum in English Language Arts and Mathematics, paired with several unique course offerings in the arts and sciences. All course offerings utilize creative and innovative approaches to critical thinking and problem-solving. Understanding the demands of the world beyond our school's walls, we emphasize collaboration through high-level literacy, numeracy, communication, and technology application in student learning. Many of our students have the opportunity to enroll in Biology I, English I, Algebra I, Spanish I and Computer Applications courses for high school credit. We monitor each student's academic growth and strive to help students create a solid educational foundation on which to build their dreams. Jerry Zucker Middle School also provides a comprehensive character education program to develop integrity, perseverance, self-direction, and interpersonal skills.
We understand that our lessons impact lives long after they leave our building, so we focus students on being responsible learners and accountable citizens. We take special pride in our diverse student population and are intentional in explaining that our diversity is a source of strength for our learning community. We treat each other with dignity and kindness to develop a global perspective necessary for success in the diverse world beyond our school walls. For the third straight year, we were recognized as a Capturing Kids Hearts National Showcase School in 2019-20 for our focused efforts in collaboration and positive school-wide culture.
We are also committed to building fruitful partnerships with our community. We enjoy devoted community support from numerous corporate, faith-based, military, and civic institutions. Through these partnerships, we expose our students to many exciting opportunities and careers that can either create a spark or sharpen their current focus.
Most importantly, our faculty and staff share a deeply held belief in the unlimited potential of our students. We continue our sustainability through a supportive community and a determined teaching force with an unwavering dedication to our students' overall well-being. It is my great privilege to serve as the principal of Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science. I will continue to build on our substantial successes by improving our instructional services and communicating our vision with the greater school community-- a vision rooted in our unyielding belief in realizing the potential in every student, every day, with no exceptions and no excuses.
