Our school is dedicated to providing all students the ability to develop world class skills in life and career characteristics outlined in the SC Profile of the Graduate by inspiring and empowering our students to excel both academically and socially. This idea starts with a team-driven, motivated group of staff and teachers. We will challenge ourselves as professionals to grow our skills. Starr-Iva Middle School will provide innovative and effective ways of transferring knowledge. When our students leave Starr-Iva Middle School, we expect them to be competitive with other high school students across the country. This could not be accomplished without the continued support of the Starr-Iva Community. To achieve this expectation, rigorous standards are in place for all core content areas. Our teachers embed critical thinking and problem solving activities across the curriculum. We also recognize the value of limited instructional time; therefore, we put into place procedures and routines to protect it.
Beyond the academic core classes, Starr-Iva Middle School provides a varietyof related arts opportunities including the following high credit courses: Agriculture and Technology, Art Honors, and Digital Literacy/Keyboarding. Non-credit related arts courses offered are as follows: Art, Band, Chorus, Computer Lab Challenge, GT Art, Media, Music, Physical Education, Project Lead The Way (Gateway to Technology), and Robotics. The variety of courses provide our students an opportunity to grow within our related arts program.
Starr-Iva Middle School is part of a strong rural and agricultural area. To ensure the longevity of this heritage, Starr-Iva Middle School will continue the growth of our newly chartered FFA program. This was an important addition to our curriculum since it will serve the needs of our students as well as the needs of our community. We will continue in our efforts to make Starr-Iva Middle School a top middle school in the state of South Carolina.
