The primary goal of North Augusta Middle School (NAMS) is to provide all students with opportunities to develop world-class skills and the life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, nurturing, academically challenging and supportive learning environment. Working with our parents and other stakeholders, we also strive to foster civic pride and provide our students with experiences and opportunities to explore their interest in a variety of career pathways to include cyber and technology.
Our students continue to excel both academically and in extra curricula activities. One hundred seventy-seven of our 7th and 8th grade students were enrolled in high school credit courses and 99% of the students enrolled in English 1 and Algebra 1 passed the End of Course (EOC) exams. Twenty-Nine 8th grade students were recognized as SC Junior Scholars and Forty-Seven students participated in Duke TIPS. Fifty-Six students were inducted into the Junior Beta Club and the Math Counts team placed 4th in the district. Ten students were accepted into Aiken County Scholars Academy. Our Academic Team was the district champion.
NAMS students have opportunities to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities resulting in several special recognitions. Our boys' and girls’ basketball teams were runner-ups in the county championship and our girls' volleyball team and boys' football team were undefeated, county champions. Seventy-Five NAMS artists were showcased at the annual North Augusta Art Show; 18 NAMS artists showcased at the annual ACPSD Art Show; 2students won prizes for their Rotary Club Football Program Cover entries; 2NAMS artist were featured at Art & Soul Gallery during Master’s Week; 7 students auditioned and were accepted into the Aiken County Gifted and Talented GATEWAY summer program for fine arts; winner for Ruth Patrick Science Center Space logo.
Four students joined the ranks of the NAHS Jacket Regiment Marching Band as 8th graders; 39 students earned a spot in the All-County Honor Band; 10students earned a spot in the Region Honor Band; Advanced Band earned a Superior Rating with Distinction at the SCBDA State Concert Band Festival, which is the highest rating a band can receive; Advanced Band & Jacket Singers competed in the Southern Star Music Festival and the Advanced Band earned two silver ratings and one gold rating. The Jacket singers earned all gold ratings and won the sweepstakes award for the best choir of the weekend. The Jacket Singers were invited to participate in the 1st North Augusta Choir Fest, perform on the Watchmen Broadcast television show, and sing the National Anthem at the Augusta Green Jackets game.
To assist our students in the development of civic pride to include responsible leadership and citizenship skills, our guidance department expanded our school-wide advisor/advisee program focused on character skills. NAMS continued the partnership with the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce which provides student ambassadors opportunities to learn from professionals in various career fields. In addition, NAMS also continued the community involvement program “Give Me 5” to encourage student volunteerism.
Our faculty, staff, parents and community stakeholders collaborate to provide North Augusta Middle School students with opportunities to develop as lifelong learners and productive citizens.
