Gray Collegiate Academy is helping all students develop World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through a continued focus on visibility, accessibility, and academic excellence with our students, staff, parents, and community. In keeping with the traditions of Gray Collegiate Academy, we continued excellence and a high-level of satisfaction with the school and its administration as evidenced by faculty, parent, and student survey responses.
Academically, we had a record $3.9 million from 49 different scholarship offers for our graduating seniors! Over 60% of our seniors graduated with a 3.0 GPA and our overall population earned 2,625 dual-enrollment credit hours. The Freshman College Report completed by the South Carolina Department of Education proved that Gray truly prepares students for college by having 94.8% of our graduates pass their first semester college classes, higher than any surrounding high schools.
Through innovative and creative scheduling, students are provided with support systems such as Peer Tutoring, Teacher Assisted Tutoring, and Academic Support through a full-time support specialist to ensure mastery of our rigorous curriculum. Other opportunities and support systems in place for students include unit and course recovery through Edmentum. Students are expected to take ownership in their own learning, demonstrate proficiency, and gain a deeper understanding in each academic discipline.
Athletically, 52% of our senior athletes signed with college teams and 13% of those were for Division I schools. Our boys’ basketball team won the state championship for the second year in a row, and we had an individual state championship in girls’ golf. Our other athletic teams also finished strong with four lower state title appearances and 10 region championships.
Gray’s ability to obtain hard-working faculty, staff, and coaches is a recipe for success. We will strive for success both academically and athletically. We will continue to produce students that are ready to compete in the global market by producing World-Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.
