With more than 100 years of excellence, Lexington High School strives to engage every student to graduate with the skills they will need to be successful in our world today. As our population continues to grow, we work to maintain a caring environment where students can thrive.
Capturing Kids’ Hearts is an integral part of who we are and how we treat students every day. We make sure all students feel welcome and safe. Through Independent Learning Time, students are grouped together by grade level so counseling can hold small-group sessions. The ILT teachers work on the soft skill of goal-setting with their ILT class. And students are given time to relearn material with a content teacher, collaborate with classmates, work on homework/projects and retake tests.
Rigorous coursework allows students to leave LHS with a firm foundation for their futures. Opportunities for college credit are offered through Dual Credit, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes.
As a Digital Learning School, teachers are exposed to new ways of teaching and students to new ways of learning. Through digital platforms and best practices, students are able to better communicate and collaborate with their peers. Teachers are provided a Digital Learning Coach to help navigate and explore new methodology.
Our Students in Action (SIA) group epitomizes being service-oriented and the benefits of community partnerships. They won the state competition and travelled to Washington, DC, in June where they won the Gold Jefferson Award for the nation. They were recognized for raising awareness about and funds for cancer. Working with Cancer of Many Colors, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and local feeder schools to accomplish their task, they learned about themselves, others and their community. They showed us the true meaning of giving back.
