Aynor High School strives to develop students equipped with world-class knowledge and skills. We accomplish this goal by engaging our students through a variety of instructional styles - challenging our students to think critically, to teach others, to defend their opinions, and to justify their answers. We also incorporate technology in our classrooms and authentically engage our students in conversations centered around teaching and learning. Our students excel in academics, the arts, athletics, community service, and project learning. Some of our many accomplishments this year include: our Fine Arts programs continue to excel including our Symphonic Band receiving a Superior Award for SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment; our CATE classes worked with local feeder schools to produce high quality publications; FBLA students continued their community service and outreach partnerships while more members advanced as national qualifiers; our FFA continues to grow receiving region and state recognition in FFA competitions; our AJROTC cadets continued to support our school and community through service projects and color guard presentations; our IB students offer peer-tutoring to help students in our After School program; our Student Council organized community service and school service projects including Blood Drives in partnership with the American Red Cross; our students, faculty, and staff raised hundreds of dollars for Polar Plunge SC as well as funds for the American Cancer Society and other local cancer awareness organizations; Blue Jacket Mentors, a student mentor program designed to improve and strengthen the social skills of our severely/moderately disabled students, sponsored students in the SC Special Olympics competition - fifteen student peer volunteers trained and motivated athletes from the high school to elementary levels; our student athletes excelled on and off of the fields including athletes visiting feeder elementary schools to support literacy; teachers coached other teachers and modeled effective lessons using our "Ignite" professional development sessions; and the list goes on. Our IB and AP course offerings challenge our students by offering a variety of curriculum opportunities while our after-school and mentoring programs provide students who are struggling academically with every opportunity to succeed and progress towards college and career readiness. Aynor High School will continue to set high expectations and strive to create unique opportunities for our students who will graduate to compete in a global society. We are proud to be a Blue Jacket Family. Once a Blue Jacket, always a Blue Jacket!
