Timmonsville High School is committed to preparing students to be College and Career Ready through continuous personalized learning. Faculty and staff members are dedicated to developing world class skills and life characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate through creating a safe, nurturing and supportive educational environment that ensures all students succeed in school and in life. We challenge our students by maintaining high academic standards and rigorous instruction. Our culture is one that emphasizes the importance of continued development of students, faculty and staff.
Students at Timmonsville High School have access to a comprehensive academic program. We strive to ensure that students are college and/or career ready through their varied experiences and classes at the Florence One Career Center and the dual enrollment program at Florence-Darlington Technical College. Students also benefit from standards-based instruction delivered in a manner to accommodate the personal needs of individuals. Teachers participate in data team meetings and Professional Learning Communities to inform instruction, interventions and enrichment. Through collaboration and the utilization of progress monitoring tools, it is our goal to provide the needed foundational skills and support that fosters student success.
Over the last four years, Timmonsville High School has implemented a technology infused educational environment. We pride ourselves on making available to students a blended learning approach through the incorporation of 1:1 devices and instructional software that requires them to be innovative creators, communicators, collaborators and critical thinkers. As a part of the High Schools That Work initiative, Timmonsville High implemented a comprehensive system of extra help for students. Utilization of the APEX Learning and VirtualSC led to expanded course offerings, as well as credit recovery. Built-in interventions periods were instituted to provide academic support for End of Course testing and College/Career Readiness assessments. These initiatives has helped us to maintain a graduation rate above the state average, ensure that over 90% of our students are accepted into either a two, four year college or the military, increase achievement on state assessments, and increase the number of dual enrollment credits earned.
Additionally, students experience valuable leadership development outside of the classroom by participating in programs, such as athletics, honor societies, student government, Jobs for American Graduates (JAG), and CATE affiliate organizations. We are excited about the all of the opportunities for student achievement and growth that lie ahead.
