Wilson High School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a rigorous student centered curriculum, and providing opportunities for students to explore career and educational pathways after graduation. It is the goal of Wilson High School to provide all students a safe and nurturing environment while challenging them to achieve their highest potential.
Creativity and innovation are promoted in all classrooms around the school. This past year, one of the most innovative initiatives was the addition of a Drone Piloting Class. Students were able to learn about all the applications and career opportunities of flying a drone, while receiving a drone pilot license. Once the course is completed, students with the license were immediately able to begin careers commercially or even use the skills in the military.
The International Baccalaureate and Early College Programs allowed to students take a rigorous curriculum while receiving college credit. This past year, thirteen students received Associate Arts Degrees along with their high school diploma. As a group, the graduating Wilson Class of 2019 earned over 27 million dollars in scholarships, and will attend some of the top colleges and universities throughout the state and nation.
Students at Wilson High School learn to collaborate and work together for a common purpose in many settings. Whether on our 2019 Lower State Champion Boys Basketball Team, or State Finalist Mock Trial Team, our students have learned the value to collaborate with different individuals to achieve high goals. It is the spirit of community, collaboration, and school pride that has been in the academic foundation of our great school since it began in 1866. It is with this same dedication Wilson High School will continue to prepare students to become world class citizens of South Carolina and the nation.
