Hemingway Elementary School, located in Eastern Williamsburg County, educates approximately 400 students in grades child development through fifth. The vision of Hemingway Elementary School is to provide a strong academic foundation focused on college, careers, and citizenship. As our mission, we share with our community the responsibility for the education of all students by utilizing a rigorous innovative curriculum that produces creative problem solvers and critical thinkers
The expectation at Hemingway Elementary School is that every child will attain his/her highest level of academic achievement by using the principles of the Leader in Me. All students and staff members are provided a safe and nurturing environment that promotes high expectations and respect for self and others. Students, parents, teachers, staff, business partners, faith-based partners, and other community stakeholders are actively involved in educational, cultural, athletic, and enrichment programs at Hemingway Elementary School.
Our school is helping all students develop the world-class skills and characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by holding students to high expectations for reading, communicating, collaborating, and problem-solving. Through the Cub Day Clubs and the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant, we reinforce literacy and mathematics, teach character-building skills, and expose students to life, careers, and cultural skills such as problem-solving, fine arts, gardening, etiquette, physical activity, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
