We are committed to providing high quality educational opportunities for all students as we prepare them for successful college and or career choices. Our students are required to master rigorous learning standards identified by the SC Department of Education.
With the responsibility of preparing our students to be successful citizens, true dedication is essential. Realizing that all students can learn, Greeleyville Elementary continues to implement a standards-driven curriculum with research-based initiatives. As we prepare our students for the world of technology, all of our classrooms are equipped with promethean /team boards which allows students to experience technology at an extensive level. We also participate in the district’s one to one technology initiative. We have continued to implement the following initiatives: The Leader in Me- 7 Habits Model, Title I Tutoring, 21st Century After school Program, Accelerated Reading & Math, Character Development, and a very strong Parenting Program.
As a proud part of the community, we have a rich history of family and community outreach and parent support and collaboration. Our community plays an active and supportive role in our student’s success. Our School Improvement Council (SIC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Volunteers, and Mentors continue to provide support in our mission to achieve excellence at our school.
We recognize that building relationships and actively involving the school community is essential in building an important bridge between the home, school and the community. During the 2018-2019 school year, the SIC met regularly to plan and discuss issues surrounding the school. We also have regular meetings with our community, church, and business leaders to discuss ways through which our business partners may effectively provide assistance and suggestions for improving academic achievement for school-wide success. Our local business partners play an essential role in helping to provide services and resources for student achievements and other school related activities such as Open House, Literacy Night, Fall Festival, Spring Social events for our students, Read Across America Day, and other school and community events. Additionally our students participate in community service activities and events as a way of giving back to the community.
Greeleyville Elementary has a staff that is competent and devoted to the assurance of the success of our students. Our administrators and teachers participate in meaningful and ongoing data driven professional development opportunities throughout the year at the school, district, and state level. Professional Learning Communities are implemented to assist with the development and enhancement of teacher strengths and refinement. Our PLC’s focus on instructional delivery, implementation of effective instructional strategies, literacy, and analysis of data.
As we move forward, our school and community are committed to the successes of all the students that attend Greeleyville Elementary. We commend our parents, teachers, and students for their efforts in making GES a wonderful place for teaching and learning and we thank the families and communities for working so closely with the school. Together we will continue to “SOAR to EXCELLENCE.”
