Clio Elementary Middle School (CEMS) is helping all students to develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a curriculum that is both challenging and engaging. The requisites enable CEMS students to become avid critical thinkers and noteworthy problem solvers. During the 18-19 school year, the school’s average RIT growth has increased by seven percentage points as measured by Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.
CEMS is dedicated to our mission to educate and enable all students to achieve their highest potential. Our dedicated and highly motivated staff serves 151 students in grades Pre-K through fifth. Professional development continues to be a main focus, and currently, the entire staff is engaged in the school wide professional learning communities facilitated by both the schools reading and curriculum coaches. In addition to the professional develop provided by the school, CEMS continues to partner with Francis Marion to provide professional development in the implementation of an instructional framework that is aligned to state standards and at high levels of rigor. The instructional framework focuses on alignment, monitoring, and adjusting instruction based on performance data.
Innovative initiatives continue to enhance the student learning experiences at Clio Elementary Middle. "Project Lead the Way Launch Program" is being implemented in all K-5 classrooms. In addition, "Gateway to Technology" is integrated in third and fourth grades. One- to- one technology is being implemented at all grade levels. Leveled readers are instrumental in grades Pre-K through fifth. Imagine Learning and Study Island are computer programs used as intervention to support struggling students at school, as well as, at home. Clio utilizes software instructional programs, such as: Big Brains, and IXL Math. Also, 21st Century After-School and Summer programs continue to be a big part of the school’s academic success.
We routinely celebrate student success and reward students for working hard in the areas of academics and attendance. The life and career characteristics of perseverance, integrity, and work ethics are encouraged through positive reinforcement.
We work hard to ensure that our students have world-class knowledge and skills by aligning all lessons to rigorous standards. We strive for continuous improvements helping students to reach their highest potential. We are working to improve our standardized tests scores for all students.
We are proud to be Cavaliers at Clio Elementary Middle School and we will continue to be called a "Fine, Fine School”.
