Riverside Elementary School is ensuring that all students develop world-class life and career skills that fit the profile of a South Carolina graduate through partnerships with our community; ensuring a safe environment, fostering character education, collaborative learning, and holding high academic standards beginning at a very early age.
The heart of Riverside is to provide a safe and nurturing environment. Collaboration and teamwork are exemplified at Riverside Elementary through our leadership model, technology, integration and professional best practices. This year 3-5 graders had the opportunity to learn using 1:1 iPads in the classroom. This impacted student learning allowing students more individualized instruction and flexibility in their learning. Increases in technology in other grade levels also allowed for more differentiated instruction and personalization of learning. Teachers nurture students by using formative and summative data to monitor growth, set goals, chart progress and celebrate individual and school successes. By embedding character education in all aspects of our school day, our school community strives daily to provide the nurturing environment necessary to move every student to higher levels of learning by focusing on differentiated and small group instruction across all disciplines through blended learning and scaffolded lessons.
The success of Riverside would not be possible without the partnership of an involved community. School Improvement Council, an active PTO, dedicated volunteers, and generous business partners provide a plethora of support.
Riverside Elementary School's Leadership team continues to embrace the school-wide focus of developing lifelong learners and leaders as responsible members of society by providing opportunities for students to lead and learn while also providing service to the school and community.
During the 2019-20 school year our staff will strive to help all students develop world class skills so they will be successful as a South Carolina graduate.
Respectfully,
Vicki Underwood, Principal
