Clay Hill Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the Graduate by providing students with an academically challenging curriculum geared towards helping them meet the ever-changing demands of the global society. Our motto, “Collaborating to Help Every Eagle Soar” exemplifies the commitment that we have to working together to meet the needs of each child.
To ensure the delivery of quality instruction, all teachers at CHES are certified in the content area in which they are assigned to teach. Our teacher: student ratio is also low, which provides time for individualized instruction. To promote and sustain academic success, our teachers constantly receive professional development training in order to adopt new and innovative instructional strategies to improve their performance. Programs and strategies such as: reading intervention, progress monitoring testing, and 120 minutes of daily uninterrupted reading instruction are used to support the learning process. Additionally, we embed character education lessons throughout school life to help students develop the social and life skills needed to foster the development of the whole child.
Beyond the classroom, our students have the opportunity to participate in several clubs and extracurricular activities, which include: the 2019-2020 Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center After School Program, and Cheerleading, We were in the process of starting basketball teams when the Covid-19 Pandemic caused all schools to be closed. As an outreach opportunity, CHES partners with a local church to implement a “Snack Pack Buddies” program which provides nutritious food for students to carry home to eat over the weekend.
At CHES, our optimal goal is to provide students with an overall school-life experience that will inspire their learning. As a result of the educational experiences that students encounter while attending our school, we are confident they that will develop the skills needed to become future high school graduates and productive world leaders. But, it is only with the help and support provided by our district leaders, parents, community members, and stakeholders that we are able to make this possible.
