The faculty and staff of Carolina Springs Middle School seek to create an exemplary learning experience for young adolescents through effective, innovative teaching practices, celebrating growth and effort, and building positive relationships.
We are in our third year of full implementation of a blended-learning instructional model in all core content areas. As such, our students benefit from personalized learning experiences, opportunities to work collaboratively, and a multitude of digital learning platforms that both support and extend learning outcomes. This year, CSMS was one of 50 schools in the United States that participated in the pilot year of the Dynamic Learning Project, a national program supported by Digital Promise, EdTechTeam, and Google to improve education equity by empowering teachers to leverage technology in more powerful ways.
As a Capturing Kids’ Hearts school, we remain committed to the belief that relationships drive a quality educational program, and we cultivate healthy relationships and positive classroom environments to maximize each student’s educational progress. Through CKH, we learn, practice and develop power skills including interpersonal skills, self-advocacy skills, and good citizenship.
We are grateful for community partnerships that support growing and empowering each child to design the future. We have an active School Improvement Council and PTSA. Parents and guardians visited and volunteered in activities and events including All Pro Dads, science labs, writing celebrations, Husky Huddles, Literacy Night, Walk & Talk with the Principal and various field trips. Huskies continued to give back to the community through acts of service by supporting Special Olympics, Relay For Life, Lexington Interfaith Community Services (now Mission Lexington), United Way and Soles4Souls.
Our arts and athletics continued to shine brightly at CSMS. The Lady Huskies basketball team won the Palmetto Athletic Conference championship. Once again, our archery team competed well as they advanced to the State competition — this year we introduced our first group of 10 Academic Archers! Our chorus, band and orchestra students all earned Superior ratings at their respective competitions. Fifteen CSMS students were accepted for Tri-DAC. Our theatre students were successful in the S.C. Speech and Theater Association competition and our new dance program participated in the District Dance concert.
CSMS continues to build upon our tenets of Character, Scholarship, Memories, and Service in all that we do for our students and families in this community.
