Johnsonville High School is dedicated to helping all students develop life skills and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging environment that is conducive for maximizing students’ learning potential. Our school cultivates such an environment through our school motto: “Empower the Learner.” We incorporate this motto through the efforts of our teachers, staff, and students. Teachers continually strive to stay abreast of current research-based trends and best practices through various professional development opportunities. By implementing research-based best practices and establishing high expectations, students are challenged to optimize their academic potential.
We are proud of our strong history of academic success. Professionally, teachers dedicate themselves to professional development with the goal of improving instruction and increasing student learning. We have incorporated ACT testing strategies and utilize a partnership with APEX Learning which includes both parties analyzing trend data. ACT Tutorials are utilized to assist students to increase critical thinking skills which is an essential skill in today’s global society.
At Johnsonville High School, we offer a variety of programs outside of the classroom environment to help our students develop into well-rounded individuals. JHS has an active Student Council as well as other student groups on campus that provide opportunities to take part in various service projects. The Academic Challenge Team and Math Team have allowed students to be successful in academic competitions. “Power Play” has provided students with the opportunity to be involved in clubs of choice, tutoring, and attesting center. JHS also offers students the opportunity to take part in the athletic programs such as tennis, football, volleyball, basketball, cheer, track, softball, baseball, and golf.
We believe it is important for all stakeholders to be active in educating the young people of our community. The continual support of all stakeholders in helping mold the future graduates and leaders of our community, state, and nation is greatly appreciated.
