Goose Creek High School is a comprehensive high school that also serves as the home of the Berkeley Center for the Arts (Berkeley County School District’s Fine Arts Magnet School). We are a part of one of the fastest growing areas in Berkeley County. The student population of Goose Creek High School is large and diverse, with nearly twenty-one hundred students enrolled in grades nine through twelve. We strive to meet the needs of all students by providing rigorous and engaging instruction, a variety of extracurricular activities, and a positive school climate.
Academics are a top priority at Goose Creek High School, and committed stakeholders share a vision of academic excellence. Teachers work together on a regular basis in Professional Learning Communities in order to analyze data and identify the academic strengths and weaknesses of students, which in turn guides their instructional planning. Students are provided afterschool opportunities for remediation and enrichment. We offer a number of career and technical education pathways that engage our students in real-world experiences through apprenticeships, work-based learning, and internships. In addition, we also offer an increasing number of advanced placement and dual-credit courses.
At Goose Creek High School students can engage in a wide-range of academic, athletic, and artistic endeavors. Our national ranking BETA Club provides a means for students to demonstrate academic and artistic excellence. Students can participate in other clubs such as: National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, DECA, Anime, Yearbook, Robotics, and a host of other activities. We are a part of the SCHSL 5A conference. Students can participate in football, basketball, swimming, cheerleading, wrestling, cross-country, baseball, softball, soccer, and track and field.
This year we started a Clean Laundry Initiative that provides students who are unable to do laundry at home an opportunity to do so at school. The program is inspired by the Whirlpool Care Counts program and aims to address attendance issues for children unable to wash their clothes. Goose Creek High is one of 17 participating schools in the country and is the first in South Carolina.
As our school continues to grow, we will continue to empower our students for success. At Goose Creek High, we recognize our responsibility to prepare students to triumph in a highly competitive world.
