WORLD CLASS SKILLS & LIFE AND CAREER CHARACTERISTICS
Our school is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the Graduate by providing a positive educational program that encourages academic success and personal growth. Through rigorous educational standards, Kinard Elementary provides instructional opportunities to students helping them develop to their maximum potentials. Students continue to make academic gains as our teachers prepare them for the next level. Multiple opportunities for student growth include: individual/small/whole group instruction, flexible grouping, STEAM and leadership opportunities. Our district technology has embraced one-to-one device implementation for third through fifth grade students with class sets of iPads in lower grades. This effort has provided many opportunities for students to excel and develop technological skills needed in the world today. As a Title 1 school, students are involved in educational standards-based field trips at every grade level providing experiences for making connections beyond the classroom. Teachers remain current by leading and participating in professional development within the district and state. These opportunities equip teachers to deliver creative and innovative strategies which enable our students to think critically and collaboratively. Kinard provides leadership opportunities through the Leader in Me model which is built on the fundamental skills in Dr. Stephen Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Students take ownership of their learning through the process of maintaining leadership notebooks and holding student led conferences. Regularly scheduled parent involvement events allow parents to participate in many learning experiences. Fall Festival, Santa’s Workshop, Veteran’s Day celebrations, Leadership Day, and Fine Arts Festival are a few annual events our parents and community enjoy. PTO sponsored events involving local restaurants prove to be family centered as well. Kinard is committed to continuous improvement. We recognize that building relationships and immersing ourselves into our school community assists in building an important bridge between home and school. Partnerships with local businesses and civic organizations continue to enhance our instructional day. Our ongoing goal is to provide meaningful, educational experiences that shape our students’ vision for their future.
