Clio Elementary Middle School (CEMS) is helping all students to develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a curriculum that is both challenging and engaging. The requisites enable CEMS students to become avid critical thinkers and noteworthy problem solvers. The school has seen a fifteen percent increase in student growth as measured by Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test.
CEMS is dedicated to our mission to educate and enable all students to achieve their highest potential. Our dedicated and highly motivated staff serves 137 students in grades Pre-K through fifth. Professional development continues to be a main focus, and currently, the entire staff is engaged in the school wide professional learning communities facilitated by the schools reading coach. In addition to the professional develop provided by the school, CEMS has partnered with Francis Marion to provide professional development in the implementation of an instructional framework that is aligned to state standards and at high levels of rigor. The instructional framework focuses on alignment, monitoring, and adjusting instruction based on performance data.
Innovative initiatives continue to enhance the student learning experience at Clio Elementary Middle. "Project Lead the Way Launch Program" is being implemented in all K-5 classrooms. In addition, "Gateway to Technology" is integrated in grades three and four. One to one technology is being implemented at all grade levels. Leveled readers are instrumental in grades Pre-K through fifth. Imagine Learning is provided to struggling students as an intervention. Clio utilizes software instructional programs, such as: Big Brain, IXL Math, and Study Island. Also, 21st Century After-School and Summer programs continue to be a big part of the schools academic success.
We routinely celebrate student success and reward students for working hard in the areas of academics and attendance. The life and career characteristics of perseverance, integrity, and work ethics are encouraged through positive reinforcement.
We work hard to ensure that our students have world-class knowledge and skills by aligning all lessons to rigorous standards. We strive for continuous improvements helping students to reach their highest potential. We are working to improve our standardized test scores for all students.
We are proud to be Cavaliers at Clio Elementary Middle School and we will continue to be called a "Fine, Fine School”.
