Our school is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by following our school motto of CFE...Every Student Counts, Every Moment Matters.
Carolina Forest Elementary School had a successful 2017-2018 school year. Mr. Dennis Devorick continues as our Principal and Mr. Simon Keays and Mrs. Morgan Emsley as Assistant Principals. CFE was awarded two Palmetto Gold Awards from the SC Department of Education, one award for student achievement and one for closing the achievement gap. Many of our students exceeded the performance goals set forth by Horry County Schools. CFE Map average skilled scores in Reading and Math were among the highest in the district. Melissa White was selected as Teacher of the Year for CFE. Mike Zilbermann was named as the Staff member of the Year. The hard work and dedication of our parents and volunteers, as well as our outstanding community support enhance the mission of our school. Our PTO which held various events throughout the year including our Founder’s Day Celebration, Team Dad, Family Movie Night, and an author visit from Vuthy Kuon. The PTO raised funds to build a Ropes Course to promote Team work at CFE. We continue to promote the Fine Arts at CFE. We have continued our Taiko Drum program along with a chorus who performed at Founder’s Day, Veterans Day, at the Carolina Opry, along with a holiday concert, and at a local nursing home. The students performed the spring musical of Seussical The Musical Jr..
Carolina Forest Elementary has adopted new school colors of Red, Black, Silver & White and a new mascot, The Panther Cub to show unity with the Carolina Forest High School.
Community partnerships were formed with area restaurants, civic associations and churches to support the school. We also had several clubs at the school this year including; Technology Club, Library Club, Run CFE, Rubik’s Cube and Good News. Several students and teachers participated in the Horry County Technology Fair. The CFE W.A.R.P. Robotics team competed again this year. In the area of technology CFE implemented PDL, iPads for every 3rd through 5th grade student. Parents were communicated with via social media, email, and phone calls and the new Remind 101 App. Not only did our students succeed academically but they also succeeded in service projects. They participated in Jump Rope for Heart for the American Heart Association, Girl’s on the Run, collected food for CAP, responded to help after the Windsor Green Fire and helped local families affected by the hurricane.
We look forward to another great year as we continue to meet the needs of all children.
