At Lambs Elementary, our learners set goals and work with integrity to become leaders who strive for excellence! A major goal for our school is to maintain a student-centered climate and culture. At the beginning of the school year, our classrooms developed clear visions, codes of cooperation, and many Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs. Students focused on setting both class and personal growth goals in collaboration with their teachers.
Collaboration at Lambs Elementary not only involved students and teachers, but also parents and teachers. During the first semester of the school year, all parents attended a parent-teacher conference to discuss their student’s areas of mastery and those areas for growth. Teachers and parents were then able to develop action plans for helping students with academics at both school and home.
Our staff collaborates and works together to support the learning needs of all students. We believe in teamwork! Grade level teams collaborated with one another and other school staff members to meet academic goals. This school year, our staff collaborated in order to successfully implement the Second Steps social-emotional curriculum for all students. Our staff also collaborated with resources and agencies outside of the school to expand student learning.
At Lambs, we explore various creative approaches for expanding student learning. We conducted two Family Nights during the 2017 – 2018 school year. During our Math Night, students and their families circulated to different math stations to learn about ways to effectively work on math skills at home. Our Reading Night involved families reading a favorite book and commemorating the story on a ceiling tile that is then placed in the school’s hallway. A major highlight from this school year is Lambs Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind team placing at the state competition and competing at the national level at Iowa State University! Our students proudly showcased their creativity and talents through a dramatic performance.
Lambs Elementary is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by continuously monitoring student growth in both academic and social-emotional areas.
Our school fully supports the Charleston County School District Vision which states: “Every child will graduate from CCSD with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college and the 21st Century global workforce.” We thank all of our families and community partners for their continued support.
