Mauldin High School is helping all students develop world-class skills and the life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate through a continued focus on academic excellence. This is achieved through intentional collaboration with our students, staff, parents, and community. Mauldin High School continues to be successful in all measurable areas of growth and achievement for all students. A 2022-2023 survey distributed to faculty, parents, and students revealed high levels of satisfaction with the school and its learning environment.
Mauldin High School is a district and statewide leader in academic achievement. The school has among the district’s highest passing averages on the End-Of-Course assessments. Of the graduating class, 98% of the 529 students graduated as college and career ready, as per the SC state standards. The Class of 2023 earned scholarships totaling over $32.6 million, including 47 students recognized as Palmetto Fellow recipients and 1 National Merit Finalist. Advanced Placement exams were administered to over 600 students who took more than 1,043 Advanced Placement exams. Our academic program is supported by dynamic counseling and career development staff who meet with each student multiple times a year to evaluate academic progress and review college and career plans.
Our Band program continued a long-standing tradition of earning a large number of individual honors in county, regional, and state competitions as well as top placements in various group competitions. The band program was identified as 2022 Bands of America Regional Finalist and earned the 16th consecutive Outstanding Performance Award, the highest award for bands in South Carolina. In athletics, 2 Region 1 AAAA Championships, 18 All State Students, 2 Region Coaches of the Year, 93 All Region Athletes, collective GPA of 4/11 and 2 team State Championships and 2 Individual Athlete State Winners. 9 Mauldin High School students signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Our Teacher Cadets program secured a Memorandum of Agreement with Clemson University to grant dual credit (college credit) to students who successfully participate in career preparation opportunities. We also expanded our Dual Enrollment program and continue to strengthen our partnership with Greenville Technical College. The Dual Enrollment program includes 13 courses taught by Mauldin High faculty and approximately 150 Mauldin students earned college credit in English 101 and 102, Math 110 and 111, Medical Terminology, Health Careers, Entrepreneurship, History 201 and 202, American Government, Teacher Cadets, and careers in education. Additionally, many students took courses off-campus through internships and other college programs..
Our Navy JROTC program was awarded with the Distinguished Unit status by the Navy, an honor conveyed to the top third of NJROTC programs in the nation. The unit nearly doubled its community service hours of the previous year, with nearly 1,400 hours. Our air rifle team once again retained the title of NJROTC Area Six, Region Five Champions and had a member selected to participate in inter-service national championships. The MHS student body raised over $124,000 for the Julie Valentine Center during the annual spirit week.. Not only did our Student Council help out a great charity, but they also helped lift the spirits of the student body and staff throughout the school year.
Mauldin High School has produced the first qualifiers in Greenville County School for the Seal of Biliteracy. 8 students qualified for the Seal of Biliteracy based on their ELA overall GPA of a 3.0 or better and a qualifying score on the STAMP Assessment.
Mauldin High continues to focus on mental health with its unique #MavsMAtter program where 1 day per semester is focused on mental health awareness and relationship / team building. NAMI South Carolina recognized the school with the 2023 Spirit Award for its Go Lime Green program. The school celebrated the statewide honor during Mavs Matter Day where students, teachers and administrators worked to raise mental health awareness and build school-wide relationships.
Mauldin High School is fortunate to have an active and supportive PTSA and School Improvement Council. Our volunteers donated over 46,000 hours of their time serving in a variety of tasks all directly supporting our students, staff, and families. Our SIC and Mentor Upstate maintained a successful mentoring program for our OnTrack students and others in need of support. The SIC and PTSA continued to support our school counseling department and social worker to provide a food pantry and weekend backpack program. This program ensures students in need have access to meals during non-school times.
