H.E Corley Elementary School Leadership Magnet and Montessori Magnet is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the SC Graduate by creating an educational environment that will ensure students' success in school and in life. We understand that the knowledge, skills, and competencies acquired now are the foundation for future learning. H. E. Corley continues to recruit and retain the very best teachers and has established a rigorous and relevant curriculum that ensures our students exceed established standards. Our instructional staff use research-based, effective practices in which assessment data is used to drive all instruction. Through the use of individual assessments, we are able to meet students where they are academically and move them forward. Strong, rigorous instruction is supported by a curriculum embedded with hands-on activities in all subjects. Through instructional practices such as cooperative learning, we are able to encourage engagement and collaboration with students. Targeted professional development is offered both at the district and school level, thereby allowing teachers to engage in growth opportunities, not only to meet his/her needs but also to meet the needs of the school. Our purpose is to help students become creators, leaders, communicators, critical thinkers, and collaborators. Our focus on leadership has earned us recertification as a Lighthouse Status through Leader In Me and to be recognized as an Academic Honor Roll School for our excellence in Leadership by the Stephen Covey Foundation. . Our focus on our Montessori philosophy helps students to become self-motivated, explore their creativity through individualized lessons, and learn through discovery. Our students enjoy many opportunities for leadership and enrichment beyond the core curriculum and clubs. For example, students serve as tour guides to take visitors and new families on tours of our facilities. Students produce and host a live news show. They also apply real-world experiences to their learning such as the Practical Life teachings do in Montessori.. At H. E. Corley, our goal is also to provide experiences and programs that will help make our students good citizens. We know that character development taught in school will carry over to their college and career successes. Teachers, administrators, parents, and business partners create a nurturing and hopeful environment that values the development of the whole child, acknowledging the leader in each of us and building world-class knowledge. All stakeholders are committed to growing students who are reflective and strategic, and who have confidence and high self-esteem. Our District motto is  "We Love and Grow our students."
