Cheraw High School is a comprehensive institution committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to reach their full potential. Our diverse course offerings, Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs, academic interventions, and extensive extracurricular opportunities are designed to support academic achievement, career readiness, leadership development, and personal growth.
We offer two foreign languages, two Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and a wide range of CTE pathways, including Plant Science, Health Science, Accounting, Web and Digital Communications, Business Information Systems, Building Construction, Electricity, Manufacturing, Programming and Software Development, and Horticulture. Additionally, our Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) promotes leadership, citizenship, discipline, and service to others.
Our rigorous curriculum challenges students to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, and develop the literacy and writing skills necessary for success in college, careers, and life. Teachers utilize engaging instructional practices and data-driven decision-making to ensure that all students are supported and challenged to reach high levels of achievement.
To provide additional academic support, Cheraw High School has implemented Brave Time, a daily intervention and enrichment period designed to meet students' individual needs. During Brave Time, students receive targeted academic assistance, participate in small-group instruction, complete any missing assignments, engage in test preparation, and access enrichment opportunities aligned with their interests and needs. This dedicated time allows teachers to provide personalized support while helping students stay on track for graduation and postsecondary success.
Each year, students and families collaborate with school staff to create and update Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs). These plans guide students through course selections aligned with their career aspirations and postsecondary goals. Families also receive important information regarding college admissions, scholarships, military opportunities, technical education programs, and workforce pathways.
Beyond the classroom, Cheraw High School offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including athletics, clubs, band, academic competitions, student organizations, and service-learning opportunities. These experiences help students develop leadership skills, teamwork, responsibility, and perseverance. Our students regularly engage in meaningful community service projects such as Relay for Life, blood drives, food drives, and Adopt-a-Highway initiatives, strengthening their connection to the community while fostering a spirit of service.
At Cheraw High School, we believe that every student can succeed when provided with high expectations, meaningful support, and opportunities to excel. As we continue to build upon our tradition of excellence, we remain committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community stakeholders. Together, we will inspire, empower, and prepare our students to become confident, productive, and responsible citizens ready to thrive in an ever-changing world.
