At Doby’s Mill Elementary School, our 2026–2027 theme, “We Rise Together,” reflects our belief that students achieve their greatest success when educators, families, and community partners work together. As a proud Title I school, we remain committed to academic excellence and to providing a safe, nurturing, and student-centered environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being of every child.
Doby’s Mill is fortunate to have a team of highly qualified, dedicated educators who work each day to provide engaging and responsive learning experiences. Our students also benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including Choraliers, Social-Emotional skill building Lunch Bunch, STARBASE, Jr. Beta Club, WAVE Show Special Olympics, and the district’s SEAGUL program.
Our commitment to service and community pride is strengthened through the work of our School Improvement Council and the involvement of our families and community partners. Through opportunities such as our Community Clean-Up Day, students, staff members, families, and volunteers work side by side to enhance our campus and demonstrate the power of collective responsibility.
Our faculty members continue to grow professionally through high-quality learning opportunities, including LETRS literacy training, professional development aligned with South Carolina’s English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies standards, and ongoing instructional support from school-based reading coaches. This collaborative learning helps our teachers strengthen classroom instruction and respond effectively to the diverse needs of our students.
Grant funding and community partnerships continue to expand learning opportunities across our school. These resources have supported the purchase of grade-level instructional materials, a hydroponic garden in the Media Center, author visits, arts experiences, and student performances. Each opportunity helps students develop confidence, creativity, curiosity, and connections beyond the classroom.
The Be Great after-school program continues to provide students with quality care and extended learning opportunities. Our reading interventionist, along with our literacy coach, delivers focused instruction during the school day to help students strengthen foundational literacy skills and make meaningful academic progress.
Family engagement remains a an important part of the Doby’s Mill school culture. Events such as our Grandparents' Breakfast, our fall family literacy celebration, Veterans’ Breakfast, STEAM family Night, and our school dance bring our school community together. During Real Men Read Week, male role models from throughout our community visit classrooms to share their love of reading with students. Family-supported events such as Skate Night, Cici’s Pizza Night, the Kids Heart Challenge, and Frosty Fair further strengthen school spirit and provide valuable support for our students and programs.
Our 2026–2027 School Goals:
