Crayton Middle School is proud to have been recognized as the first school in South Carolina to receive the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) School of Distinction designation for the 2024–2027 cycle. This honor reflects the school’s ongoing pursuit of excellence and commitment to continuous improvement. In addition, Crayton has been designated a School to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform for four consecutive cycles: 2017–2019, 2020–2022, 2023–2026, and most recently 2026–2029. These repeated recognitions highlight the school’s sustained excellence and long-standing commitment to best practices in middle level education. As a result, Crayton faculty regularly contribute to state and national conferences, sharing best practices and supporting other schools in their improvement efforts.
Academic achievement remains a hallmark of Crayton Middle School. The school leads the district with the highest number of Middle School Scholars and South Carolina Junior Scholars. Students in the visual and performing arts consistently earn recognition at the district, regional, and state levels.
Crayton’s faculty is composed of highly skilled educators who work collaboratively to design engaging and rigorous learning experiences. Through common planning and the development of shared assessments, teachers ensure consistency, alignment, and high expectations across all classrooms. The school’s success is further strengthened by the active involvement of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and the School Improvement Council (SIC), both of which play a vital role in supporting school initiatives and fostering community engagement.
A culture of high expectations, strong relationships, and data-driven decision-making defines the Crayton experience. This foundation supports both academic achievement and personal growth for every student. The school’s guiding motto—“Expect the Best, Give the Best, Be the Best”—reflects its unwavering commitment to excellence.
