Developing World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate 2024-2025
Overview:
Carvers Bay Early College and Career High School (CBECCHS) is dedicated to providing educational opportunities and innovative pathways that promote lifelong learning. Our mission is rooted in fostering a collaborative community that enhances each student's ability to thrive in a diverse and ever-evolving global landscape. This year, we have actively implemented student-centered programs and policies to ensure engagement and progress towards the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Our commitment extends to enhancing education and training, particularly in response to challenges posed by the pandemic, including a focus on remediation and social-emotional health initiatives.
Academic Achievement:
CBECCHS is proud to report that currently, 25% of our student body is engaged in Dual Enrollment Courses, with 16 students earning a Certificate of Studies through Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC). We are excited to note that the 2026 graduating class will feature our first cohort of students graduating with an Associate Degree. Additionally, we have experienced a 5% increase in students enrolling in the AVID Elective, with expectations for another 5% growth in the upcoming school year, raising our AVID student population to 20%. Our students are also exploring vocational opportunities, with four students set to take Cosmetology at the career center for the 2025-2026 school year. Overall, we have observed significant improvements, including increased student attendance, a decrease in behavioral issues, improved test scores, and a rise in enrollment in Honors Courses.
School Efforts to Achieve Goals:
To achieve our academic goals, we have prioritized the incorporation of World Class Knowledge and Skills through systemic processes reinforced by staff professional development. We collaborate with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) and iLeadr to ensure that our Honors, College Prep, and Dual Enrollment students receive rigorous instruction. We remain committed to fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills that align with our vision of preparing students for College and Career Readiness. Our Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs have also provided students with valuable opportunities, resulting in a record number of OSHA Certifications, job shadowing experiences, work-based experiences and internships.
School Goals:
We believe that academic achievements pave the way for success, while character development is essential for sustaining it. Our Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MJROTC) program serves as a cornerstone for high school orientation, emphasizing citizenship, character, discipline, and self-motivation. Resolution programs encourage students to find alternative ways to handle conflicts, fostering problem-solving skills and social integrity. Our Social/Emotional Program addresses behavioral and emotional challenges, ensuring that all students receive the support they need. Our Guidance department works hard to create Individual Graduation Plans (IGP) for every student, as always, CBECCHS has 100% participation rate.
The Carvers Bay High School community thrives on collaboration, with active participation from our PTO, School Improvement Council (SIC), All Sports Booster Club, and Pastor’s Alliance. Together, we uphold a culture of high expectations, striving towards our collective goal of developing global competitors who are competent, ethically grounded, and socially responsible.
