Warrenville Elementary is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, rigorous, and engaging learning environment. We fulfill this commitment through the implementation of our school's purpose: to equip students with the skills necessary to become college- and career-ready by establishing rigorous academic standards and high expectations for student behavior.
We demonstrate our dedication to this purpose by diligently monitoring student data, utilizing research-based instructional strategies, and providing timely intervention and acceleration opportunities. Programs and resources supporting student achievement include FastBridge Screening to Intervention, i-Ready Teacher Toolbox, Read Naturally Take Aim! at Vocabulary, SPIRE Comprehension, UFLI, Wordly Wise, multilingual learner support services, and the Advanced Gifted Program. Through ongoing data analysis, students requiring more intensive support in reading and mathematics receive additional assistance from an interventionist, special education staff, and/or participate in our after-school tutoring program.
Ongoing, job-embedded professional development is designed to continuously improve teaching and learning. Teachers participate in professional learning opportunities focused on LETRS, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Depth of Knowledge, differentiated instruction, remediation and acceleration strategies, and data analysis. Through collaborative planning and professional learning, educators develop goals and instructional practices that are developmentally appropriate and responsive to the academic and behavioral needs of all learners.
At Warrenville Elementary, we believe in educating the whole child. Our extracurricular activities support students' physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. Students have opportunities to participate in the News Team, Running Club, Safety Patrol, and Warrenville Cares Club. Our character education program continues to thrive through the recognition of positive citizenship and leadership. Through our House System, students earn points for demonstrating positive behaviors and can redeem those points at the House Store. Additionally, our Youth Development Team meets monthly to identify and implement supports that address the social and emotional needs of our students. Academic achievement, character development, and strong attendance are regularly celebrated throughout the school year.
Service-learning projects are a cornerstone of the Warrenville Cares Club, providing students with meaningful opportunities to serve others and strengthen community connections. Our initiatives include It's Spooky to Be Hungry in partnership with Golden Harvest Food Bank, Be a Bunny with Aiken Senior Life Services, cards to Active Duty, and support for FOTAS (Friends of the Animal Shelter). We also participate in the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, maintain the Warrenville Elementary Blessing Box, and sponsor the Welcome Baby Program, which provides books for new siblings of our current students.
Collaboration among all stakeholders plays a vital role in meeting the needs of our students. Through parent workshops, families learn strategies to support student learning at home. During our annual Education Extravaganza, families receive resources designed to prevent the summer learning slide. Using multiple communication platforms, we regularly share our vision, goals, plans, and priorities with staff, students, families, and community members.
Stakeholders are actively involved in conducting needs assessments, problem-solving, decision-making, and school improvement efforts. Parents and community members contribute through School Improvement Council meetings and survey feedback and assist with planning, monitoring, and evaluating school programs for continuous improvement. This shared responsibility for student success is further strengthened through partnerships with local churches, businesses, community mentors, volunteer grandparents, local universities such as USC Aiken, and area high schools. These faith-based and business partnerships support school initiatives by providing school supplies, supporting the backpack food ministry, and contributing to various outreach programs.
At Warrenville Elementary, we believe that schools, families, and communities each play an essential role in shaping the lives of our youth. Together, we are preparing future South Carolina graduates to become world-class leaders, lifelong learners, and productive citizens.
