Old Pointe Elementary School is committed to nurturing the development of World Class Skills, as outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate, for all its students. Our dedicated staff continuously strives to create an environment that promotes the acquisition of advanced knowledge. Every day, our students are encouraged to expand their critical thinking, improve their communication and collaboration abilities, and cultivate their creativity. In a safe and supportive setting, they are provided with academically challenging opportunities.
Students from Kindergarten to Fifth grade received HP devices to enhance their learning experience. These devices facilitated blended learning activities that promoted active participation. At Old Pointe Elementary, we remain committed to continuous growth and improvement while upholding our longstanding values of professional development and fostering a family-oriented environment.
Our dedicated staff actively participated in professional development to enhance the learning experiences provided to our students, demonstrating our commitment to educating the whole child. This year, we introduced school-wide Morning Meetings using the InFocus curriculum to support our students' social-emotional learning. Additionally, we held mentoring programs for our students in grades 3-5 based on BIMAS results of needs. Our Panther P.R.I.D.E. PBIS initiative, a unique adaptation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports system, encompasses five school-wide expectations: Positive attitude, Responsibility, Initiative, Determination, and Excellence. Throughout the academic year, students were recognized for embodying these P.R.I.D.E. characteristics. Notably, each recognized student's contribution played a key role in quarterly school-wide recognitions, allowing all students to witness the collective support and unity within our school community.
Our Professional Learning Communities empowered our educators to elevate the rigor of instruction, create shared assessments, analyze data, and design lessons aligned with state standards and the unique needs of each student. Our teachers worked on establishing learning progressions to ensure that all students had an entry point in the instruction being delivered and employed strategies to support instruction at Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 levels. We firmly believed that enhancing student learning required active participation in ongoing and focused professional development, always prioritizing student achievement as our primary goal.
Looking ahead, the Old Pointe school community will continue its dedication to nurturing the holistic development of every student. Through tailored instruction, essential resources, and comprehensive support, we strive to empower each learner to reach their highest potential. We take pride in the many achievements of the 2023-2024 academic year and eagerly look forward to even greater accomplishments in the coming year as we help our students achieve their utmost potential.
