Mauldin Elementary School is committed to helping all students develop the World Class Skills outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. Recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School in 2020 and recertified during the 2023-24 school year, Mauldin Elementary follows our school mission statement: "Empower all individuals to explore with purpose, lead with intention, and persevere in seeking solutions."
A rigorous, child-centered curriculum, a focus on student data, collaborative teacher efforts, teacher-focused professional development, and early intervention programs for reading and math, support students. We believe that children should be challenged, engaged, and empowered through the learning process as they prepare for college and careers. With multiple leadership opportunities on campus and numerous before and after school clubs, many opportunities await our Mauldin Mighty Eagles.
Mauldin Elementary provides several opportunities to develop and support the whole child. Students can participate in classroom and schoolwide leadership roles, including media helpers, safety patrols, the morning news crew, teacher helpers, the student lighthouse team, and many others. Leadership roles offer students opportunities to lead and have a voice within the school. Other student activities include our State and National award-winning Beta Club, Robotics team, Girls On The Run, Mighty Eagle Chorus, and Leading Ladies.
In the classroom, students are empowered to take ownership of their learning by setting personal and classroom Wildly Important Goals (WIGs). These goals, along with targeted strategies and accountability partners, enable our school to continuously progress in academic achievement.
Mauldin Elementary teachers utilize current teaching strategies to meet the learning styles and needs of every student. Reading and Math interventionists provide research-based interventions to further support individual students' academic success. We are excited to see our classrooms and instruction reflect the 21st Century while preparing our students with college and career skills.
At Mauldin Elementary, we believe the school, family, and community must share the educational responsibility for our children. Mauldin Elementary partners with Mentor Upstate to train and match adult mentors with many of our students, providing opportunities for students to build relationships with caring adults throughout the community. Mentors support students through classroom reading, tutoring, and eating lunch with students.
Mauldin Elementary has a very active and supportive Parent Teacher Association (PTA), School Improvement Council (SIC), and Parent Lighthouse team that support the school and focus on students' educational needs. The partnership between PTA, SIC, Parent Lighthouse, and the school has a positive impact on the success of our students.
Mauldin Elementary provides a successful learning environment for all students. With the assistance of dedicated staff and the support of our community and stakeholders, we continue to care for children today to create leaders for tomorrow.
