"Plantersville Elementary Digital Immersion School helps all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the SC Graduate by implementing 21st Century learning environments. Our students are provided a safe, nurturing, and academically inviting environment daily. Staff members are involved in consistent staff development opportunities centered on best practices. We continue to implement the Everyday Math Program to provide more hands-on instruction for our students. The reading curriculum focuses on predictable structures, independent reading, phonics instruction, small group instruction, guided reading, and exploratory learning via science kits. Our teachers are currently taking the LETERS course an empowering professional development course of study for teachers of reading, spelling, and related language skills.
Students are engaged in technology daily through one-to-one devices. We enhanced our computer assisted instruction by utilizing a program that provided additional instruction and practices for students in the area of reading and math based on each students' individual I-Ready data. Our classrooms use individual minicomputers for research and to explore new learning opportunities.
Plantersville Elementary School's focus extends beyond the school day. We currently offer a after school program along with support of our local community agency (The Village Group). Students are also recognized for exemplifying life skills through Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) and Character Education Programs. We celebrate these behaviors monthly by recognizing students through our Student of the Month Program and utilizing the First Tee Character words which are taught in Physical Education and Guidance lessons. In addition, we have supports in place for students needing additional interventions in which these students are provided more intensive instruction several times a week.
All students at our school enjoy a free breakfast which is provided through a USDA Program. We also deliver healthy fruits and/or vegetables during the afternoons several days throughout the week. These healthy afternoon snacks are made possible through our South Carolina Department of Education Fresh Fruits/Vegetable Grant, which is a grant we have been fortunate to receive for several years now.
Plantersville Digital Immersion Elementary School is committed to developing scholars who embrace diversity, compete in a technological advance society and are academically proficient through collaboration and innovation while ensuring lifelong success. Thank you for all of your support in helping in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
