Gordon Elementary School is working diligently to meet the needs of all students and help them develop the World Class Knowledge and Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by striving to provide an environment that promotes the individualism and diversity of our students, faculty, and staff. Our programs offer life and career skills that are innovative and relevant for our future leaders of the 21st century.
We have a dedicated and highly qualified staff committed to working collaboratively to create a positive and supportive learning environment. Teachers use a variety of evidence-based instructional strategies and integrates technology to engage all learners. We offer after-school clubs that foster the development of our students’ interests and talents.
Our master schedule allows each grade level team to meet daily for common planning time. This enables the grade level teams to plan instruction and create common assessments. It also allows teachers to share best practices and strategies that have proven to have a positive impact on student achievement.
We have exceptional teachers who differentiate instruction and design engaging lessons with their students in mind. Gordon’s commitment to providing an excellent education to all students extends far beyond the basics. Our professional staff works diligently to provide every student with numerous and varied academic experiences. We also provide small group instruction during the school day to provide interventions to address specific learning needs.
We also pride ourselves in establishing strong parental involvement and communication between home and school. We have an active SIC/PTO that helps to raise money and support our school.
Gordon Elementary School is actively involved in monthly STEM activities that focus on building science and technology skills. We are working extremely hard to increase the number of students inducted in the National Junior Beta Club and we are a National Beta Club School of Merit. We believe all students can learn and our staff is committed to doing whatever it takes to reach the social-emotional and academic needs of our students.
