Lambs Elementary School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by focusing on critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. We remain committed to our vision of helping learners set goals and work with integrity to become leaders who strive for excellence! We make data-driven decisions that benefit instruction and work vigorously to ensure that all students receive a high-quality, rigorous educational experience. All teachers, as a grade level, meet with our school-based instructional support staff and administrators weekly using the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model. Teachers and support staff discuss and build upon effective instructional practices, address student needs, and develop plans to support student progress.
Collaboration at Lambs Elementary School occurs to ensure student success, academically and socially. Classroom teachers collaborate with others to ensure student growth. Reading and math interventionists, along with teachers of students with exceptional needs and teachers of students whose second language is English, collaborate with classroom teachers daily. Our staff collaborates with our school guidance counselor and outside support staff to implement the Second Steps social-emotional curriculum for all students. We wholeheartedly believe that collaboration and teamwork are critical to student achievement.
Collaboration, along with communication between parents and teachers, helps to ensure student achievement at Lambs. During the first semester of the school year, all parents attended a parent-teacher conference to discuss their student’s areas of mastery and areas for growth. Teachers and parents were then able to develop action plans for helping students with academics at both school and home.
Communication between home and school occurs through Thursday folders, conferences, newsletters, phone calls, social media, and emails. Our goal is to have consistent communication with parents and to involve them in the events of the school. This year, students had the option to participate in school virtually or in person. There was a significant boost in parent communication and collaboration to support the logistics and academic support between parents and teachers. That experience strengthened the relationships between parents and teachers. Lambs Elementary School continues to fully support the vision of the Charleston County School District. Our goal is for every child to graduate with the critical skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in life.
