Dear Parents/Guardians and Stakeholders,

Conway Middle School is a community serving middle school with a deep tradition of pride and service of 553 students in grades 6-8. Our school is helping all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by upholding “Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts” in academics, the arts, and athletics. Conway Middle School offers a strong academic program that provides students the opportunity to earn high school credit in the following courses: Algebra I, Geometry, English I, and Fundamentals and Computing. Additionally, our school offers various programs in Fine Arts that provide opportunities for students to build skills to enhance them and prepare a whole-rounded child with skills that will be utilized throughout their lives. These programs include band, orchestra, chorus, and visual arts. Our students have excelled in these programs at the district and state levels by participating in All-County Band and All-County Chorus, and All-State Chorus. Our staff development plan has focused on increasing student engagement and student collaboration. We implement Kagan structures to promote and develop self-direction, work ethic, and interpersonal skills in classroom collaborative learning. Students use digital content daily, which allows them to enhance their understanding of core academic content while also taking advantage of the Horry County Schools 1:1 personalized digital learning initiative in a blended learning program. Our teachers and students have experienced success with technology tools that include. Still, they are not limited to: i Ready, No Red Ink, USA Test Prep, Google Classroom, Gizmo, and Discovery Education. We continue to make intentional instructional decisions based on what students need. Our school improvement council and PTO are engaged in our school and parental support for our fine arts programs, athletics, Beta club, robotics, Builder’s Club, and school-wide events.
