“Committed to Excellence” was the theme for Woodruff High School during 2019-2020 school year. Hard work, commitment, involvement, and communication are essential to maintaining the level of excellence established by years of outstanding Woodruff High School alumni. The students and faculty of Woodruff High are continually blessed by a generous community that supports academic rigor, co-curricular excellence, and facilities that are second to none. The senior class received a cumulative total of $3,367,350 in scholarships. Over sixty-seven percent of the class received some scholarship award. Eighty-one seniors received LIFE Scholarships and twelve seniors were named Palmetto Fellows. Additionally, seven seniors received the prestigious South Carolina Academic Award.
In addition to an excellent academic year, Woodruff High School had another outstanding year in the visual and performing arts. Fourteen seniors collectively won forty-three Southern Scholastic Awards-Gold Keys, Silver Keys and Honorable Mentions. Two seniors received a National Scholastic Art Key. The WHS marching band, The Cadets, placed ninth in state competition and seventh in the upper state competition.
Success was also achieved in the athletic venue. WHS produced thirty-nine scholar athletes. One team was crowned region champion and five were runners-up. Twenty-nine students were named All-Region athletes. Woodruff High School had five All-State athletes and reached the playoffs in nine sports. Moreover, five Woodruff High School athletes were selected to a state All-Star team.
During the 2019-2020 school year, Woodruff High School continued to emphasize self-discipline, student involvement, communication, and caring attitudes. Throughout the school year, the traditions of WHS remained steadfast because of the involvement and commitment of the community, the students, and the staff.
Our goal in the 2020-2021 school year is to uphold the Woodruff High School tradition of leading the state of South Carolina in academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and artistic endeavors.
