Clinton Elementary, the home of the Cubs, overflows with passionate teachers and students who pride themselves in excellence. With the help of committed parents, community, teachers, and administrators, students engage in daily adventures in learning which prepare them to be independent responsible learners. We are so fortunate to have so many committed adults who care about our children and work in partnership with the school to enhance our students’ academic achievement.
Clinton aims to provide a safe, caring, and academically challenging learning environment. In the 2020-2021 school year, Clinton Elementary served 475 students in Prekindergarten to Grade 5, with 49.6 percent being female and 50.3 percent being male.
This year’s Covid-19 ramifications have produced more educational challenges than we anticipated. These effects included three school-wide shut-downs, over one hundred student truancy reports, and over 50% of our student population have not had the same teacher all year due to switching from a face-to-face learning model to a virtual learning model.
In the spring of 2021, eight percent of Clinton Elementary students scored “Meets or Exceeds” in English on the South Carolina College and Career Ready Assessment (SC READY), and ten percent of students scored “Meets or Exceeds” in Math. These percentages were below the state and district averages for the same assessment in both subjects. In addition, Clinton Elementary 4th Grade students did not exceed the state average for the SCPASS Science assessment in the 2020-2021 school year, with five percent of students reaching the “Met” or “Exemplary” standard in science.
Our goal is to overcome the academic, social, and emotional repercussions of the Covid-19 Pandemic and continue strengthening our 4K through 5th Grade instructional practices by effectively utilizing our students' current academic data to enhance our small group instructional practices. Furthermore, we will continue to incorporate our State standards in every lesson through authentic and engaging activities within every subject area. According to Pahomoy, if students are authentically engaged in learning, they will ultimately become immersed in the process in which will lead to worthwhile, meaningful, and enjoyable educational experiences.
Clinton Elementary strives to give students a thirst for knowledge in order to prepare students to be lifelong learners in a forever-changing world. Innovative instructional strategies are evident in all areas of the curriculum. The faculty’s dedication to excellence ensures continuous growth for our students and helps create an enthusiasm for learning. Clinton Elementary represents a Full-Service School by offering the best possible educational and community opportunities for our students and families.
