To Parents/Guardians and Community members, Aynor Middle School is helping all students develop the world class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by providing a safe, caring and academically challenging learning environment. We provide such an environment for our 711 students in grade 6-8 through the implementation of our school vision: Everyone Engaged Every Day and our mission: an evolving community deeply rooted in rural values and beliefs. We demonstrate this vision by challenging our students with best practices to reach their full potential and by the continuous professional development for our teachers. Aynor Middle School offers a rigorous academic program giving students the opportunity to earn high school credit in the following courses: Algebra 1, Geometry, English 1, Digital Literacy and Google Basics. Our school is part of the 1:1 technology initiative in Horry County Schools, and each of our students and teachers has a chromebook to use daily. Each student takes Digital Citizenship courses to help he/she become knowledgeable about expectations and procedures for technology use as well as internet safety. Our teachers are always seeking to learn new and effective strategies to use in the classroom such as: small group targeted instruction, cooperative learning, Kagan Structures, iTunes U, Gizmo, Discovery Ed, Aleks Math, Achieve 3000, Kahoot, Emodo, Google Docs, USA Test Prep, No Red Ink, Science kits, ACT/SAT Prep, Read 180, and V Math. For the 2017-2018, academic year, 54% of students met their growth targets in ELA, and 55% of students met their growth targets in mathematics as measured by MAP (Measures of Academic Progress). At AMS, we also have various programs outside the academic world to focus on the development of the whole child. We have an excellent Fine Arts program with most of our students participating in Chorus, Band, or Orchestra. We also had over 185 students participating in AMS and/or Aynor High School athletic programs. We had over 100 students involved in our Robotics and/or Tech Fair programs. Our school has a lot to be grateful for and a large part of that is our parents/guardians and community members and their support. Thank you for making us great.
