At High Point Academy, we work to help all of our students develop world-class skills characteristic of the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate. Our school provides a secure and safe environment to a growing population of over 1,200 students in kindergarten through twelfth grades. At High Point Academy, our school mission is to cultivate lifelong learners in a student-centered environment. Our vision is to be an exemplary school of choice for academically minded families.
We partner with our families and community to support all of our students in achieving academic, social, and personal success. Everyone in our building works together as a team to cultivate our learners. Teachers are continually studying their students in order to meet their needs. All staff members play a role in knowing our students and stepping in to help them. We all love our students, challenge them to develop a strong moral compass and find creative ways to reach each student at their level and work with them individually so that they may reach their potential as lifelong learners and successful community members.
As a school of choice, we pride ourselves in offering our students opportunities to grow and excel. Our program of learning is STEAM focused (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and our students have opportunities such as: piano, Spanish, chorus/music, theater, art, band, dance, robotics, physical education, weight training, Project Lead the Way, Piloting Drones, and dual credit college courses both on and off campus.
In conjunction with our STEAM focus, Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes are available in our middle and high schools that expose students to real-world work experiences and assist in shaping their career goals. We have class offerings for several career clusters including Business Management and Administration, Arts, AV Technology and Communication, and Health Science, to name a few. Students also have offerings to participate in internships, apprenticeships, and state-approved industry credentialing.
Beyond academics, we offer our students opportunities in region and state winning athletics such as wrestling, volleyball, cross country, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, cheerleading and dance team. Additionally, students can showcase their skills and talents in theater productions such as Shrek, our superior rated honor choir, and locally displayed art shows.
We are committed to enriching the lives of the students and families who call High Point Academy their home. We are honored to serve them and our community.
Sincerely,
Brian Sherman - Superintendent
Kelly Buster - Elementary Principal
Tucker Hamrick - Middle School Principal
