Carolina Springs Middle School is dedicated to fostering the development of World-Class Skills as outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. Through a comprehensive program, we strive to empower all students for success. We are proud to announce that our school has been recognized as a National School to Watch by the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, an exclusive network committed to continuous improvement. This designation places Carolina Springs Middle School among the 36 middle schools in South Carolina with this honor.
In addition, we are thrilled to share that Carolina Springs Middle School has achieved the status of an AVID Certified Site this year. Our implementation of the AVID instructional framework has enabled us to enhance our students' writing, inquiry, collaboration, organizational, and reading skills. Our students continue to exceed expectations within a safe and supportive environment, establishing a strong foundation for lifelong success and resilience in the face of challenges.
We are delighted to witness our students enjoying school even more this year. Our participation in Special Olympics and Unified classes has reached an all-time high. Furthermore, we have expanded our Impact clubs to offer more than 50 opportunities for students to connect with peers and mentors during designated times/days.. To foster stronger connections and improve students' sense of belonging, we introduced PACK Week, a dedicated time for students to form better relationships within our school community. Additionally, leveraging technology, we facilitated virtual visits from accomplished guest speakers nationwide, who shared insights about post-secondary career pathways with our students.
We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of our families who have engaged with us in meaningful ways this year. Their contributions, from volunteering for special events to serving on our PTSA and SIC, and chaperoning field day and field trips, have been remarkable. We are fortunate to have partnered with Lexington County Mental Health, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Mark Rouse Insurance Agency (State Farm), Hwy55, SONIC, and Marco’s, whose support has been invaluable. Moreover, our commitment to community service extends to our support of Relay For Life of the Midlands and our efforts to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
While we take great pride in our accomplishments this year, we remain deeply committed to establishing stronger connections between our work and the long-term impact on the families and children we serve. Carolina Springs Middle School is dedicated to preparing students to overcome any challenge they may encounter on their path to success. We will continue to nurture their resilience and equip them with the skills needed to navigate the world they will soon inherit. As we embrace the upcoming school year, we do so with renewed dedication and unwavering confidence in our ability to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
Sincerely,
Brice Cockfield, Principal
