Hartsville Middle School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by staying committed to helping all students develop career and life skills. We do this by providing a safe, orderly, and academically challenging learning environment with appropriate academic support. This support focuses on world-class knowledge and skills. Instruction promotes creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem-solving, collaboration, and teamwork, communication, and teaching students how to learn. Through our instruction, students build life and career characteristics such as integrity, self-direction, global perspective, perseverance, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, which all aid our students in preparing for Twenty-First Century careers.

Student performance and needs were assessed based on the Measures of Academic Progress Tests (MAP), CASE Benchmark tests, and classroom assessments. This data was reviewed by teachers, Coordinating Teachers, and administration in weekly Professional Learning Community instructional and data team meetings, which resulted in teachers identifying opportunities to provide more individualized instruction, recognition of trends in grade levels and subject areas, analysis of strengths, and areas in need of improvement.
The Magnet Arts Programs provided students with opportunities to showcase their talents and creativity. Some highlights include:
