Colleton County Middle School (CCMS) is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by creating a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through research-based instruction that allows students to actively explore-real world problems and challenges to become active lifelong learners. CCMS promotes a safe, orderly, caring, and supportive environment.
CCMS provides opportunities for school staff, teachers, and other stakeholders to offer feedback on building our school's mission and vision. Opportunities such as our school's School Improvement Council allow stakeholders to serve our school and provide necessary information to help shape, monitor, and improve our school's purpose. The vision of CCMS is to develop world-class leaders who will one day make a global difference. To achieve this, we embark on the mission of being held accountable to all stakeholders for providing an education that empowers students to achieve academic and personal goals and to become college and career-ready, productive, responsible citizens.CCMS works to live out our mission and vision in various ways daily. We work to build our students academically, socially, and emotionally through many initiatives such as Mindful Mondays, SEL Advisory Book Study, Ever-Fi, and Navigate 360.
We at CCMS believe that middle school education should be based on the needs and characteristics of early adolescence. Children in their middle school years endure many challenges and rapid changes. They change physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally in every way possible. We view middle school as a transitional period, bridging the gap between elementary and secondary education. This is also a time of tremendous potential and opportunity. We seek progressive teaching and guidance techniques, varied instructional styles, and a flexible organizational arrangement enabling all who strive to accomplish present and future goals.
