Palmetto Middle School is a very unique school that is at the center of an amazing community. We served 750 students in grades 6-8 during the 2022-2023 school year. We just completed the second year of completely occupying our new school building. Our students, teachers, and community have done an incredible job in rebounding from all of the unfortunate setbacks that 2020 had to offer. We are very proud to declare that we are back and are stronger than ever!
Our administration and teachers push our students to be among the best in the state. Educating the whole child is a group effort. Here at Palmetto Middle School, you will find the most dedicated, committed, and outstanding teachers and staff. Designated Model PLC at Work School, April, 2023
There are many aspects that set Palmetto Middle School apart from other middle schools. We offer many co-curricular classes, a wide variety of related arts, clubs and also sport programs. These classes challenge and push students to achieve their fullest potential. The teachers are talented and dedicated to their students and athletes. Our students collectively earn more than 18,000 hours of community service hours through clubs such as BETA, Palmetto’s Finest, and TEAM. (Together Exceptional Athletic Mustangs).
Eighth grade students at Palmetto Middle School have the opportunity to participate in a course called “Pro-Team.” Pro-Team is the middle school version of the Teacher Cadet course offered to high school students. This course provides students not only with an early glimpse into the world of education, but it also provides them with opportunities to learn about leadership, teamwork, communication, and integrity. We are very pleased to continue working with the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) in this effort.
The 2022-23 school year was a very special year at Palmetto Middle School. We began the school year with our very first excellent report card rating. During the Fall, we were re-designated for the fifth time as a “National Schools to Watch” school, and became the 4th middle school and 6th overall school in the state of South Carolina to be designated as a Model PLC at Work School. We are also expecting our second consecutive Excellent Rating on our School Report Card.
We look forward to continuing to serve alongside our amazing parents, volunteers and community leaders as we anxiously anticipate all that the 2023-2024 school year has to offer.
